How To Lose Weight The Healthy Way

7

Almost 108 million Americans were overweight or obese in 1999. Until now, obesity continues to be a serious problem and is predicted to reach epidemic levels by the year 2020.

One way to prevent this scenario is to make people aware of the risks of being overweight or obese.

Here are some diseases that you are putting yourself in risk of if you are carrying a lot of extra pounds:

1. heart disease
2. stroke
3. diabetes
4. cancer
5. arthritis
6. hypertension

Losing weight helps to prevent and control these diseases.

The quick weight loss methods which have spread like fire these days do not provide lasting results. More often than not, dieting methods which involve dietary drinks, foods and supplement or  pills do not work. If they do, the results are just temporary.

It is better to rely on a healthy weight loss option which will provide lifetime results. You have to set realistic goals and not expect to lose a lot of pounds in a short span of time.

Here are some tips on how you can lose those unwanted pounds the healthy way:

1.   Do not starve your self.

The key to a healthier way of losing weight is: Do not diet.

You may seem happy and feel that you are losing those unwanted flabs on your belly and thighs by skipping meals. But remember that this would not last long. Your body cannot tolerate having insufficient food to fuel the energy that you use up everyday.

If you get used to skipping one or two meals a day, your stored calories will be used up instead of the energy that should have been provided by your meals. So if you just eat one huge sandwich in one day, it will end up straight to your problem area (i.e. highs, buttocks, hips).

2.  Start your day right.

Mothers always say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Have a healthy meal in the morning to jump-start your metabolism.

Your food intake after you wake up will be used to burn fat all day long.

3.  Eat small, healthy meals frequently.

Five  small-serving snacks per day is better than three hearty meals. Eating more frequently, and in small servings, can prevent over-eating. This will also increase your metabolism and make calories burn faster.

4.  Decide on how much weight you want to lose.

Keep your goals realistic. In the long run, it is virtually impossible for you to lose 40 pounds in 2 weeks. Have a mindset that you want to eat healthy to stay healthy for the rest of your life.

Once you have decided on a weight loss plan or program, stick to it and make sure that you follow your own set of dieting rules.

5.  Drink lots of water.

Your body needs sufficient water  to burn fat and keep your cells hydrated and healthy.

6.  Avoid too much sugar.

Plan your meals around lots of fruits and vegetables, some bread, rice or pasta for that carbo fix that you need, plus lean  meat and protein rich-foods. Sweets, sodas and pastries should be once-in-a-while indulgences only.

7.  Watch your fat intake.

Fat is not the culprit to being overweight. You need this to keep your weight at the proper level.

There is such a thing as healthy fats. Olive, peanuts and canola oil have them. Tuna, salmon and mackerel have omega-3 fats which is good for the heart.

8.  Exercise.

Leave your car if  you are only going a few blocks from home, take the stairs instead of the elevator, jog, cycle or  skate. Use these activites and other home chores if you are too lazy to go to the gym and take exercise classes. Make sure that you do this regularly and you will not even notice that you are already shedding pounds with these mundane activities.

It does not matter how much weight you plan or need to lose. What is important is that you set realistic goals for yourself.

Go slow. If you have already lost 5 or 6 pounds, give yourself a break then try to lose the next 5 pounds.

Eat healthy, drink lots of water, have enough sleep and exercise. This will give you a higher chance of losing weight and improving your health, which would result to a new, healthier you.

I see your point – but I'm not thinking Freud, I'm thinking David Attenborough. Parents keep you alive when you are very young – peers don't. If a mother bird lacks sufficient food for all 3 hatchlings, she will think nothing of throwing one out of the nest – this has been caught on camera and observed numerous times. Ducks will actually drown ducklings if there is insufficient food. You have to please your parents – or else. The same isn't always true for peers. At least, not until later in life, when the society of the clan replaces the smaller world of the nuclear family.

Stop drinking soda from now on. Diet soda counts as soda, it is just as bad. Beer is fine if you are drinking light beer, doing it in moderation, and not doing it for the sake of getting drunk. There is a big difference between light social drinking and drinking just to get shitfaced.

    To lose fat:
    1. DON’T BELIEVE THOSE FAD DIETS! DIET PILLS ARE GIMMICKS!
    2. DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF! Unless you are 4ft tall, a 1,200 calorie a day diet is DANGEROUS and won't work in the long run.
    3. Calculate your BMR. Do a google search. A good calculator would ask for your age, height, weight, and activity level.
    4. Eat healthy and eat about 500 calories a day less than your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). Your BMR is how many calories you need per day to maintain your current weight.
    5. Eat 5-6 small meals a day. This keeps your metabolism up. Each meal should include fruits, veggies, water, and protein.
    5. Drink at least 64oz (8 8oz glasses) of water a day. No soda (that includes diet soda).
    6. Do light/moderate cardio 3 to 5 times a week for 30 to 45 minutes each time. Running, bicycling, and swimming are great for this.
    7. Do some strength training to make sure you lose fat and not muscle. Don't worry; you won't look like the hulk if you lift weights.
    8. You should lose about 1-2lbs (.45-.9kg) per week. If you lose more than that, chances are the rest is stool, water weight, or even muscle mass.
    9. Weigh yourself only once a week at the same time (ie every Friday morning). Your weight fluctuates a lot during any 24hour period because of water and food intake and also bowel movements.
Be patient and be smart. If you follow this guideline you will be very happy with your results.

Insufficient food, costly fuel, an increasingly unhealthy population, unemployment and social disaffection will lead to civil unrest. We have to make these factors work together for a global solution.

The government must introduce a lottery, covering all aspects of citizens’ lives from birth to death. This lottery will randomise all conceivable decisions, removing the trauma of excessive variety and disappointment at wrong choices. Each citizen will consult a personal Randomiser DeviceTM on waking to find out where and how to spend the next time-period. The removal of choice will eliminate the spectre of jealousy: chance will grant each citizen an enviable job, beautiful husband/wife, chateau, sports car, etc. Nobody will feel hard done by, since, as the saying goes: "Who knows what tomorrow brings?"

I dont want to help shallow guys like you lol but hey, it seems that you love the girl enough that your giving her a second chance to stay with you.

If you were attracted to someone that was skinny and then gained some weight, chances are you will lose attraction to the person. If you dont tell someone that there is a problem right away, then it will lead to you not being able to give her the attention that you used to give her. This all leads her to eat more because of what you been doing. What happened to her was a terrible tragedy and instead of you being her segway to make her feel better, you didnt do enough, that's why she gained a few. Maybe you should blame yourself on the unwanted pounds as well. Not giving her enough attention after what happened is probably one of the reasons for getting unwanted pounds. I dont know the whole story so Im sorry if what i said wasnt true…

What lala said makes sense, if you dont want to be honest then try to be more subtle in telling her.

Try to work out a lot when she's around so she gets hints. Be like he babe can you sit on my feet when i do my sit ups?? Something like that

If you eat try not to have a lot of food that she can see, hide all the twinkies because when people see deserts, their mind just tells them to go get it. Try eating small and having small servings in front of her. Its very subtle and when she asks what are you doing, just tell her oh im not hungry so i only cooked this much.

The second most important thing Dr. Layman teaches is… THREE meals a day. NO skipping meals!

  7. sparkleythings_4you says:

Eating healthily needn't be expensive or that time consuming. Pre-prepared meals aren't that healthy anyway no matter what it says on the front of the box. If you look on the back it's full of salts, additives, fat etc.
I'm a single parent, I have a full time job & I cook. I don't cook three times a day though & I don't know anyone who does. Breakfast is always cereal & fruit, lunch is often sandwiches & dinner tonight is a stir fry. It's just a question of planning your meals really. I have also got my kids cooking now so that takes all the onus off me. I don't know if your daughter is old enough to help but could your husband help? Another thing I do is cook up my own "ready meals" & store them in the freezer. I often make extra at dinner so it can be frozen as a "ready meal". Because I work funny hours it's good to know my kids can stick something decent in the microwave rather than the crap supermarkets sell. I also use my slow cooker for making soups & stews. Cheap, filling & healthy meals.
